Attic Backpackers Terms and Policies
Welcome to Attic! We're all about good stays, clear expectations, and keeping things tidy and fair. By staying with us, you agree to the following terms—they help us keep the hostel safe, friendly, and running smoothly.
Arrivals & Departures
Check-in is from 2:30 PM. If you're arriving early, feel free to drop your bags off anytime after 9 AM and come back later to check in properly. Please don’t arrive before 9 AM unless you’ve booked the night before—we need time to sleep and scrub.
Reception closes at 9 PM. Arriving after that? We’ll charge your card and send late arrival instructions to your email. Make sure your booking details are correct and check your inbox (use that sweet airport WiFi).
Check-out is by 10 AM sharp. Strip your pillowcase, return your key, and head off to your next adventure. You can leave your bags with us until 4 PM, but you must exit the hostel until you come back to collect them.
Check-in Requirements
We need a valid passport or driver’s licence. That’s it. No student cards, library cards or love letters accepted. A credit card is required for your booking, which we may charge for fines, damages, or unpaid balances.
Age & Group Policy
We welcome travellers aged 10+. Anyone under 18 must be with a legal guardian and can't stay in a shared dorm unless it's fully booked for their group.
Sorry, no stag or hens groups. Groups of 10+ must book directly with us to get the right rooms and terms.
Most guests are 25–40 years old. We have no upper age limit, but please note bunks are first-come, first-served, and top bunks require a bit of climbing.
Room & Bed Allocation
We do our best to keep groups together, but we can’t promise specific beds or rooms. Book a private dorm if you want guaranteed togetherness.
Hostel Behaviour
Be kind. Be clean. Be respectful. That goes for guests and groups alike. If you’re disruptive, disrespectful, or drunk and disorderly, we may ask you to leave without a refund.
Alcohol is allowed (cheers!) but only in communal areas and only until 11 PM. No alcohol in rooms or you'll face a $100 fine.
Smoking
Smoking (anything!) is only allowed on the outdoor terrace. If you smoke inside, we’ll have to charge a $150 cleaning fee—cleaning upholstery and scrubbing out smoke smells takes time and money for our small team. Please help us keep the hostel fresh.
Personal Belongings
We have small lockers in communal areas for valuables. Bring your own padlock. Attic takes no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged items. But we do have CCTV in common spaces for additional security.
Property Damage
If something breaks, we’ll need to replace or repair it—and as a small business, that stuff takes time and costs money. We really appreciate your care, but if damage does happen, we might have to charge for it.
Keys & Access Codes
Keys and access codes are for staying guests only. Lost key fee is $25. Don’t share door codes—that’s a safety issue and we do our best to keep you and your belongings safe.
Liability
Our liability is limited to the value of the services booked (unless required otherwise by law).

We store your booking details to run the hostel and let you know about any deals.

Mistakes Happen
If there's a typo or error in a booking or on our site, we'll correct it as soon as we can. Thanks for understanding.
Cancellations
Please ensure you carefully read the cancellation policy that applies to your booking—especially if booked via third-party sites like Booking.com or Hostelworld. We follow the cancellation terms provided at the time of booking.
Attic will charge in full for any late cancellations, no-shows, or late amendments made outside the cancellation window. No refunds will be given for early departures. We're a small, independent business and rely on bookings being honoured—thank you for your understanding.
Late Check-out
Didn’t check out by 10 AM? You might be charged for another night. Please help us reset the hostel for the next guests.
Payments
We accept credit card, cash, or EFTPOS. Credit cards have a 4% fee. You’ll need to pay on arrival or in advance for any extensions. We may pre-charge for public holidays or special events.
Charges After Checkout
We may charge for damages, fines, lost keys, or breaches of hostel rules after you leave. By booking with us, you agree to this.
Long-Term Stays
Standard stays are up to 14 nights. You can extend weekly to a max of 28 nights. All extensions must be prepaid and are subject to management approval. Guests are expected to keep their area clean and maintain good hygiene and hostel etiquette. Management reserves the right to decline an extension.
Sickness Policy
If you’re feeling unwell, please be mindful of others in our shared spaces:
- Wear a mask in common areas if you're coughing or sniffling.
- Wash hands regularly and avoid preparing shared meals if you're unwell.
- If you're seriously unwell, please consider staying elsewhere to recover.
